Last night the Missourians and the Mormons were camped so close together that the cattle got all mingled up with each other's group. Which tells me that Missouri cattle and Mormon cattle got along great! So before either group could go an inch, all those cattle had to be straightened out by both groups.
They found wonderful grass today with good wood around for their use. They also found snowbanks and even found the time for a good old-fashioned snowball fight. They came to a creek and found ice still covering it in spots several inches thick, so they made use of this treasure in bringing it back and using it to keep their butter cold. They baked bread and ate it with the very cold butter and considered it a "perfect feast" as Thomas Bullock said.
